On Sunday, supporters of the PTI, the party of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, are marching across the country and making their way to the capital, Islamabad.
Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, and Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are marching towards the capital alongside the demonstrators. Islamabad police announced in a statement prior to the start of the protest that Section 144 will be enforced throughout the city and that those who violate it would face severe consequences.
Along with warning people not to engage in any unlawful conduct, the police emphasized that disruptions of public order will not be tolerated.
Authorities blocked highways leading to Islamabad as PTI workers marched in that direction. To stop additional travel, Rangers were stationed at the Faizabad intersection. Irfan Nawaz Memon, the deputy commissioner for education in Islamabad, declared that all of the city’s educational institutions would be closed on Monday due to the current circumstances.
PTI employees and police have reportedly clashed on a number of Islamabad streets, with police alleging that demonstrators are constantly throwing stones. A total of 380 individuals have been arrested from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and authorities have detained many PTI members from different locations.
Both sides are still at odds in the capital, and the situation is still tight.
