The incident happened in the third delivery of the opening over, and Babar Azam’s graceful stroke quickly drew similarities to Virat Kohli’s famous cover drive.
The Shot of the Day for Babar Azam
It was a truly elegant moment from Babar Azam. Babar leaned into the shot with his usual composure after Marco Jansen produced a full delivery just outside off stump.
The ball flew through the cover point area for a spectacular boundary after a brilliantly performed cover drive. Fans were reminded of Virat Kohli’s same skill in the same shot, and it was a beautiful stroke that displayed Babar’s technique and natural flair.
South Africa chose to bowl first after winning the toss earlier in the game, and it proved to be a wise move. After a difficult performance in the previous game, Pakistan’s opener Abdullah Shafique was out for a duck in the opening over of the innings by Marco Jansen. Shafique was sent back to the dressing room without bothering the scorekeepers when Jansen’s full ball snuck in slightly and struck the inside edge of his bat.
